Presser Feet
Bernina offers the most extensive
selection of presser feet in the home sewing market, for
all projects or applications. |
|
|
Foot #0
Zigzag foot for 130-180
- The sole of the foot is
flat in front of the needle, providing additional fabric
control
- Especially useful to
reduce flagging in fine fabrics, promoting perfect
stitch formation
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #1
Reverse Pattern foot for 125-200
- Use this foot for all
work using forward feed or reverse feed stitches
- The sole of the foot has
a slight indentation both in front and in back of the
needle, allowing the free passage of the thread while
reverse motion stitches are formed
- This promotes balanced
stitch formation where the fabric is moving
back-and-forth while reverse motion stitches are formed
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #2
Overlock foot for 125-200
- This foot is equipped
with a pin which acts in a similar manner as the stitch
finger on a serger.
- When the pin is placed
along the edge of the fabric, it reinforces the edge as
the stitch forms, preventing tunneling of the fabric
- The right side of the
sole is cut away so the stitched edge of the fabric can
move smoothly under the foot without any unnecessary
pulling or stretching
- The vari-overlock stitch
on all computerized model Berninas is preprogrammed so
that the right swing of the needle will fall just off
and to the right of the pin, which will prevent the
fabric from tunneling
- Another application for
this foot is sewing a narrow satin stitch. The satin
stitch can be formed over the pin for a raised satin
effect such as in charted needle work. Using the pin in
the foot rather than knitting needles simplifies the
process, especially for beginners.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #3
Manual Buttonhole foot
- Sew buttonholes with or
without gimp
- The sole of the foot has
two grooves, which allow the fabric to move freely even
as thread builds up to form the beads of the buttonhole.
The guide between the grooves helps keep the beads of
the buttonhole parallel, even when long buttonholes are
sewn
- The slight indentation
in the front of the foot allows the free passage of the
thread as the stitching reverses to complete the
buttonhole
- The center "toe" (prong)
in the front of the foot can be used to hook gimp or
cord. It is used for corded buttonholes, gathering with
cord or sewing shirring elastic.
- This foot can also be
used for whip-and-roll edges in fine fabrics like
batiste (Swiss edge)
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #3A
Automatic Buttonhole
for 153, 165, 180, 200
- Use this foot on
computerized Berninas for electronically memorized,
fully automatic buttonholes with or without gimp. (this
foot fits all computerized models with automatic
buttonhole capability)
- The unique design of
Bernina's Automatic Buttonhole foot actually measures
the length of the buttonhole as it is being stitched.
Every subsequent buttonhole is sewn to the exact same
length. Only the starting point of each buttonhole needs
to be marked.
- The sliding frame of the
foot provides improved fabric guidance while the
buttonhole is being stitched. It also provides very good
visibility.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #3B
Buttonhole Foot for 125-200
- The sliding frame of the
foot provides improved fabric guidance while the
buttonhole is being stitched
- This foot is
particularly effective in making perfect counted stitch
buttonholes (models 1090s, activas, virtuosas)
- The red marker (slide)
makes it very easy to reproduce identical buttonholes
when buttonholes are stitched "manually" (like on
mechanical models)
- The foot is designed to
hold gimp for easy corded buttonholes
- The shank of the foot
can hold a seam guide for easy placement of buttonholes
along the opening of a garment.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #4
Zipper Foot for 125-200
- The "centered toe" of
this foot rides close to the zipper coil while holding
the fabric and zipper tape in contact with the feed dog
- The notches on each side
of the foot provide excellent fabric control around the
needle and help eliminate skipped stitches when sewing
in zippers. At the same time, they allow the needle to
stitch "just inside the edge" of the foot, for better
precision
- Note: This foot requires
that the "far left" or "far right" needle positions be
used.
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
Foot #5
Blindstitch foot for 125-200
- This foot was designed
specifically for the stitching of a turned hem
- The foot has a black or
silver metal blade which guides and keeps the folded
edge of the fabric in the right position for stitching,
allowing the needle to penetrate the fold, taking tiny
stitches
- The blade extends from
the front to the back of the stitching point, creating a
slightly loose stitch as the machine zigzags over the
blade to "bite" into the fold. The blind hem will not
pucker and the stitching will not create tucks in the
fabric
- The blindstitch can be
adjusted by varying the width of the stitch, which
promotes greater precision (than an adjustable guide)
- This foot can be used
for edgestitching along straight edges with limited
needle positions. The use ofFoot #10 or #10C is
recommended for most edgestitching, especially along
curved edges and on finer fabrics.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #6
Embroidery for 125-200
- The bottom of the foot
has a wedge shaped indentation, which allows even satin
stitching to glide under the foot without dragging. The
angle in the indentation makes it possible to turn
curves easily
- The toes of the foot are
shorter, compared to a regular zigzag foot, for greater
maneuverability while sewing (you can turn the fabric
more easily for smoother stitching lines, an important
asset when embellishing fabric
- There is a small hole in
the metal bridge at the front of the foot which allows a
narrow cord to be guided perfectly down the center of
the stitching for raised edges and appliqué
- In lighter weight
fabrics, the metal bridge of Foot #6 provides additional
fabric control and helps prevent tunneling
- There is a notch on each
side of the foot providing a reference mark for the
needle. This makes it possible to easily position the
fabric "on the mark" when stitching decorative work.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #7
Tailor Tack for 125-200
- The unique design of
this foot includes a 1/4" (6mm) tall ridge in the center
of the foot. Used with a 3mm zigzag (or wider), the
ridge will cause the stitches to loop as they are formed
above the fabric
- Fast and accurate tailor
tacks! Simply stitch through the paper pattern and all
layers of fabric as needed. Gently separate the fabric
layers and clip the thread loops, leaving thread on each
piece of fabric
- This foot is also well
suited for other applications such as faggotting,
fringing and chenille appliqué.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #8
Jeans Foot for 125-200
- The single needle hole
provides extra stability for the needle even as it
crosses thick bulky areas
The narrow groove in the sole of the foot, behind the
needle, allows heavy threads to pass under the foot,
preventing skipped stitches when topstitching
- Use this foot in
combination with a size 100 or 110 when sewing thick,
dense fabrics (as when hemming jeans). This foot is
uniquely designed to actively brace a size 100 or 110
needle and help prevent needle breakage when sewing
through heavy layers
- Jeans Foot #8 can also
be used with a size 70 ballpoint needle to sew fine knit
fabrics without puckering and wrinkling.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #9
Darning foot for 125-200
Combined with Bernina's
Hopper Mechanism, this foot gives excellent fabric
control (no flagging) while the stitches are being
formed as well as the ability to move the project freely
under the foot. |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #10
Edgestitch foot for 125-200
- Edge stitching with all
needle positions
- edge stitching on hems
- tucks
- fine edging (with or
without cord)
- decorative edges
- sewing on lace and
ribbon
- stitching-in-the-ditch
- The guide (blade) in the
front of the foot serves as a reference when stitching
along an edge. The guide on Foot #10 is shorter than
that of Blindhem Foot #5, allowing greater
maneuverability when stitching curved edges and
providing more stability on lightweight fabrics
- Owners of 9mm rotary
models 1630 and 180 should consider using Foot #10C
(9mm), which will better match the wider feed dog on
these models.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #11
Cordonnet Foot for 125-200
- A 2mm groove in the sole
of this foot allows heavier threads such as cordonnet
and buttonhole twist to pass freely under the foot after
the stitches are formed. The groove is gradually tapered
away towards the back of the foot to promote good fabric
control and facilitate the turning of curves
- Use this foot also to
couch heavier yarns or cords. The 5.5mm opening of this
foot will accommodate many weights and textures of cord,
yarn or thread
- Other applications for
this foot include Passementerie and Novelty covered wire
(where satin stitching is sewn over wire to produce
accents for wreaths, gift wraps and crafts)
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #12
Bulky Overlock Foot for 125-200
- One side of the foot is
higher than the other to accommodate the uneven layers
encountered when seaming sweater knits or covering and
inserting piping (especially corded piping)
- The extra space under
the foot helps prevent knit fabrics from stretching as
they are stitched
- The same groove under
the foot makes it well suited for making corded piping.
In many applications, corded piping can be made and
applied in one operation with the help of Foot #12
- Use this foot to couch
stranded beads and sequins (up to 3mm in diameter) as
well as
- For thicker cords,
piping and beads, consider the use of Foot #12C (for all
models)
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #13
Straight Stitch Foot for 125-200
- The small needle hole
provides excellent fabric control. This foot is
especially useful with difficult or delicate fabrics
such as charmeuse, fine silks, etc.
- The toes of this foot
are open and provide very good visibility while
stitching
- Use the edges of the
foot for approximate 1/4" and 1/8" seam allowances
- For very delicate or
difficult fabrics, consider the use of a straight stitch
plate (Models 130-180, Models 1000-1630) in combination
with Foot #13 for maximum fabric control.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #14
Zipper Foot with Guide for 125-200
- The adjustable guide on
the top of the foot allows for even topstitching when
inserting a zipper. The guide can be used on either side
of the foot (just by sliding it), for added flexibility
- Use this foot for
simplified insertion of centered, lapped, separating and
exposed zippers
- Use this foot also for
edge and top stitching from 1/16" - 5/8" (0.2-1.6cm)
- Wide tucks are easily
and accurately sewn with the help of the adjustable
guide on Foot #14.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #15
Embroidery Foot for 165-200
Combined with BERNINA's
built-in hopper mechanism, this foot gives excellent
fabric control, eliminating flagging (the fabric
climbing the needle) while the stitches are being formed
and offers the ability to move the project freely under
the foot. The surface area of the #15 foot is larger
than that of Darning Foot #9 or Freehand Embroidery Foot
#24, giving perfect needle clearance and visibility. The
rectangular shape and subtle curve at the front of the
foot help it to maneuver over thickly stitched areas for
smooth, continuous stitching. |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #16 Wide
Wide Gathering foot for 125-200
- The slot of the
foot allows the gathering of one piece of fabric while
it is being attached to another (ungathered) layer. A
ruffle can be made and attached in one operation
- The amount of
gathering can be adjusted by varying stitch length and
needle thread tension
- For heavier
fabrics, the use of the long stitch or basting stitch
will facilitate gathering
- The distance
between rows of gathering ranges from a minimum of 3/16"
(5mm) to a maximum of 3/8" (10mm)
- For applications
where exact control of the gathering ratio is required,
consider the use of the Bernina® Ruffler (# 86).
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #18
Button Sew-on Foot for 125-200
- This foot makes it a
breeze to sew on buttons, press studs/snap fasteners,
hooks and eyes
- There is an adjustable
pin mounted to the front of the foot which will
automatically create a thread shank. The thread shank
can be made to the required length for a wide variety of
applications, from blouse and shirts to heavy coats
- The adjustable pin can
be removed if a thread shank is not needed (as when
hooks and eyes are sewn).
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #20
Open Embroidery foot for 125-200
- The front of the foot is
open, giving clearer visibility
The bottom of the foot has a wedge shaped indentation,
which allows even satin stitching to glide under the
foot without dragging. The angle in the indentation
makes it possible to turn curves easily
- The toes of the foot are
shorter, compared to a regular zigzag foot, for greater
maneuverability while sewing (you can turn the fabric
more easily for smoother stitching lines, an important
asset when embellishing fabric)
- On 9mm rotary models
1630 and 180, Foot #20C (9mm) allows the use of the
wider decorative stitches these machines offer.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #21
Braiding foot for 125-200
- A hole in the front of
the foot guides the cord or yarn so that you can focus
on the stitching line
- The deep groove under
the foot accommodates the cord while it is being
couched.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #22
Cording Foot 3 grooves for 125-200
- This foot is uniquely
designed to guide the strands being couched while making
it easy to insert the strands into the foot
- A swing-out spring blade
is mounted on top of the grooves. Swing the blade open
and you have free access to the grooves. Simply close
the blade and you are ready to sew.
- A special slit on the
side of the foot further facilitates the insertion of
the strands
- The three grooves in
Foot #22 are larger (compared to Foot #25) to
accommodate thicker threads, yarns or cords
- For finer threads, yarns
or cords, consider the use of Foot #25 (Cording Foot – 5
grooves).
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #23
Clear Appliqué Foot for 125-200
- The clear sole of this
foot makes it easier to track the stitching line for
greater precision
- The groove under the
foot is designed to channel a precise 2mm satin stitch
width. This narrow groove is the secret to accurate and
finely detailed appliqué. The groove curves smoothly on
both sides at the back of the foot, allowing free-form
versatility in the line of stitching
- The narrow groove in the
sole makes this foot particularly well suited for making
baby-cord piping as well.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #24
Freehand Embroidery foot for 125-200
- This foot is very
similar in design to the regular darning Foot #9.
However, its sole is open in the front for improved
visibility. You can see the needle more clearly while
stitching
- Combined with Bernina's
Hopper Mechanism, this foot gives excellent fabric
control (no flagging) while the stitches are being
formed as well as the ability to move the project freely
under the foot.
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #25
Cording foot 5 groves for 125-200
- A swing-out spring
blade is mounted on top of the grooves. Swing the blade
open and you have free access to the grooves. Simply

|
|
Foot #29
Freehand Quilting foot for 125-200
For the 1000-1630 series:
- The shank on Foot#29
is shorter than on Foot #29C, to accommodate thicker
battings (for work with thinner batts, consider
using Foot #29C
- The large sole and
opening in the foot make for good visibility when
stitching in free motion
For the activa/virtuosa/artista
line:
- Foot #29 has a clear
sole with a wide opening for added visibility. You
can see where you have been and where you are going
- The shank is the
same length as that of Foot #29C. (Foot #29C is
never required for models 130-170)
- Use this foot for
all freehand applications for models 130-170
Combined with Bernina's Hopper Mechanism, this foot
gives excellent fabric control (no flagging) while
the stitches are being formed as well as the ability
to move the project freely under the foot
- Artista 180 users
should consider Foot #29C as it is coded to allow
the full 9mm swing of the needle
- Note: given the
preponderance of thin batts in the quilting market,
Bernina® has modified the design of Foot #29 for the
activa/virtuosa/artista line. The "new line" foot 29
is now essentially the same as foot 29C. Both feet
have the same clear sole with a wide (9mm) opening.
The only difference is that foot 29C for the artista
180 is "coded" to allow the 9mm stitch width, a
feature not required on models 130-170).

Foot #40C
Sideways Motion Foot for model
1630
- Foot #40C is
required for sewing out the large (sideways motion)
embroidery designs available in models 1630 and 180
- While the foot
resembles the Reverse Pattern Foot #1C, it differs
in a few significant ways
- The indentation on
the bottom of the foot is more rounded on the sides
to allow the smooth sideways passage of thread and
fabric
- There is no cut-out
in the sole of the foot to allow thread passage:
this makes for a smoother edge around the stitchinng
which allows more even feed of the fabric,
especially when moving sideways
- Note: Foot #40C is
for use with Models 1630 and 180 only
|
|
 |
|

Foot #50
Dual Sole Walking Foot
- In a tradition of
continuous technical improvements, Bernina recently
redesigned this Walking Foot. It now includes two
interchangeable soles, one designed for sewing with
difficult or slippery fabrics and one designed for
quilting
- Use the "sewing"
sole for sewing on leather, velvet, for matching
plaids, etc. There are both 1/4" and 1/8" markings
on the sole to serve as seam and cornering guides
- Use the "quilting"
sole when machine quilting. The new quilting sole
has an "open toe" configuration to improve
visibility when quilting. It also provides 1/4" and
1/8" markings to serve as seam and cornering guides.
The back of the quilting sole is designed to reduce
drag on the quilt, further promoting perfect feed
- The precise mechanism
allows the machine to "walk" the fabric from the top
layer, enhancing the action of the feed dog. The new
design allows the walking mechanism to step higher over
the fabric, allowing quilts to feed perfectly. The large
rubber toes provide exceptional grip for better and more
even feed
- The foot can be used
with forward and reverse motion stitches
- The sturdy construction
and whisper quiet operation of the Bernina® Walking Foot
sets it apart. It can be used at high speed as well as
at slow speed with great effectiveness. When you compare
this walking foot with others, you will notice how
effectively it "walks" the fabric and how much quieter
it operates
- The foot attaches to the
machine in a breeze... It clips on the presser foot bar
just like any other Bernina presser foot. You can enjoy
the benefits of full dual feed with the easy-on
convenience Bernina feet are known for
|
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Foot #51
Roller Foot
- The three rollers
built into this foot allow it to feed smoothly even
on material that tends to stick to a conventional
presser foot
- This foot is
particularly useful when sewing on fabric with
uneven surface such as velvet
- The smooth rollers
will not pick up loose threads as they pass under
the foot so they will not become caught in the foot
- The rollers are wide
enough to provide effective fabric feed

Foot #52 (5.5 mm) or #52C (9 mm)
Zigzag Non-Stick Foot

the sole of the foot glides easily over difficult
fabric, eliminating any drag of the foot moving across
the surface

leather, plastic, vinyl etc.
- Applications for this
foot include sewing rainwear, luggage, tote bags, toys,
home furnishings and garments
- Owners of 9mm rotary
models 1630 and 180 should consider using Foot #52C -

Straight Stitch Non-Stick Foot

Foot #54
Zipper Foot Non-Stick
- This foot combines
the feature of Foot # 4 (Zipper foot) with a
non-stick coating
- Zipper insertion is
made easy with this especially designer foot. You
can also use foot #54 for making and attaching
pipings, welting and attaching snap tape, especially
on leather, plastic, rubber coated and other
hard-to-feed fabrics
- The "centered toe"
of this foot rides close to the zipper coil while
holding the fabric and zipper tape in contact with
the feed dog.
- The notches on each
side of the foot provide excellent fabric control
around the needle and help eliminate skipped
stitches when sewing in zippers. At the same time,
they allow the needle to stitch "just inside the
edge" of the foot, for better precision
- Note: This foot
requires that the "far left" or "far right" needle
positions be used
- Note: Bernina®
offers a variety of non-stick presser feet to
facilitate your sewing on hard-to-feed fabrics: #52
(Zigzag 5.5mm), #52C (Zigzag 9mm), #53 (Straight
Stitch), #54 (Zipper), #56 (Open Embroidery)

Foot #55
Leather Roller Foot
- Use Foot #55 for smooth
stitching on leather and suede, for outline stitching
(as on quilts) and for applying large size piping such
as on pillows and cushions
- The single roller makes
it possible to steer the fabric and change direction at
will, perfect for outlining curves and complex designs
- Use this foot to
make oversized cording or welting. Since the roller is
all to one side, any size of cording can be used to the
right of the foot (and needle)
